Partner Profiles

 Partner profiles are an agreement between two IDoc partners, where they agree:

  • The syntactical structure of the data stream exchanged
  • The semantic context under which the data is arriving
  • The physical mean of data exchange (network RFC, diskettes, paper etc.)

Usually the data is exchanged via Remote Function Calls (RFC) or FTP transfer as this is certainly the quickest and most convenient mean to transfer data. However, data may as well exchanged via the old-fashioned tennis-shoe-network (save the data on a diskette, put on your tennis shoe and jog to the remote host) or via means of technical overkill as to punching data on a pile of paper and OCR-reading it on the remote destination. This certainly allows traditional OCR with eyes and finger.
